You have chosen a new laptop. A few well-chosen accessories will protect it and make everyday work more comfortable. Here are the eight we recommend most often.
1. A padded laptop bag or sleeve
Most laptop damage happens while carrying it. Choose a bag with a padded laptop compartment that matches your screen size.
2. A wireless mouse
Touchpads are fine, but a mouse is faster and more comfortable for long work sessions.
3. A laptop stand
Raising the screen to eye level reduces neck pain. Combine a stand with an external keyboard and mouse for a proper desk setup.
4. A cooling pad
Gaming laptops and laptops used on a bed run hot. A cooling pad keeps temperatures and fan noise down.
5. A portable SSD for backup
A portable SSD is fast, small and the easiest way to back up your files.
6. A USB-C hub
Thin laptops have few ports. A hub adds HDMI, USB-A and a card reader in one small dongle.
7. A headphone with a microphone
For online classes and meetings, a headset gives much clearer sound than the built-in speakers and mic.
8. A power bank or spare adapter
Many new laptops charge over USB-C, so a high-wattage power bank (65W or more) can keep you working during load-shedding.
